Collection: NMEA 2000 Connectors & Cables

NMEA 2000 is a universal marine CAN bus communication protocol. NMEA 2000 allows devices from any manufacturer to share critical information and display them to the user. NMEA 2000 connectors are universal and work with all brands.

Every NMEA 2000 network is made up of a backbone. The backbone is a series of Tees and backbone cables connecting Tees to different areas of the boat or vehicle. The backbone is powered by a Power Tee and only operates between 9-16V. Devices connect into the Tee's via drop cables. Each backbone is terminated with terminating resistors that caps the network.

Each network has a minimum of 2 terminating resistors, 1 power Tee, 2 Tees, and 2 drop cables that connect into the Tees. A NMEA 2000 network can accept up to 40 devices before it has to be extended via a network bridge. There is no limit to the amount of networks you have on a boat or vehicle. Most applications have only 1 or 2.
