NMEA 2000 Tees make up the backbone of a NMEA 2000 network.

Ancor Tees are color coded. The black connector on the Tee connects to devices via drop cables. The 2 yellow connectors make up the backbone and connect to other Tees or backbone cables.

You will need a single Tee for every device connecting into the network. Which is why multi-gang Tees are common for space efficiency.

  • Available in single, 2 way, and 4 way
  • NMEA 2000 approved
  • Compatible with all NMEA 2000 devices and brands

Specifications

Tees make up the backbone of the network. Intersection point for drop cables to connect into the network.

Installation Details

Recommended Mounting Fasteners (Not Included)
Size: #10 or #12
Length: 1.25 to 1.5in
Type: Pan Head

The black connector on the Tee connects to devices via drop cables. The 2 yellow connectors make up the backbone and connect to other Tees or backbone cables.

In the NMEA 2000 network a "Male" connector is the connector with the exposed pins. The "Female" has the pin sockets. Ignore the connector itself and focus on the pins.

Pelagic Power Tip

Ancor NMEA 2000 Tees are approved by the NMEA and can be used with any NMEA 2000 device from any manufacturer. Ancor exceeds NMEA 2000 requirements by implementing color coding. Yellow identifies as backbone connections and black identifies as drop connections. The Red Tee identifies that it is a network powering Tee.

The connections between black and yellow will work interchangeably and many people will try and use drop cables (black) to extend backbones. However, the reason why backbones are different from drops is the wire gauge inside the cables. Since the backbone supplies power and data to the entire network there is larger gauge wire than drop cables which also makes them more expensive to produce.

Since NMEA 2000 is the central nervous system of critical data onboard we recommend following the color code so there is no risk of voltage drop.
