Ancor NMEA 2000 Backbone Cables
Ancor NMEA 2000 Backbone Cables
SKU:ANC270002
NMEA 2000 Backbone Cables extend the NMEA 2000 backbone to different areas of the boat or vehicle. The most common application is connecting Tee sets that need to be separated.
The Ancor backbone cables are color coded with yellow connectors and are intended to be connected into the backbone portion of Tees or other backbone cables.
- Available in 2M, 5M and 10M lengths
- 18 AWG wire gauge
- NMEA 2000 approved
- Compatible with all NMEA 2000 devices and brands

Connects between two Tees or to other backbone cables.
In the NMEA 2000 network a "Male" connector is the connector with the exposed pins. The "Female" has the pin sockets. Ignore the connector itself and focus on the pins.

Ancor NMEA 2000 cables are approved by the NMEA and can be used with any NMEA 2000 device from any manufacturer. Ancor exceeds NMEA 2000 requirements by implementing color coding. Yellow identifies as backbone connections and black identifies as drop connections. The Red Tee identifies that it is a network powering Tee.
The connections between black and yellow will work interchangeably and many people will try and use drop cables (black) to extend backbones. However, the reason why backbones are different from drops is the wire gauge inside the cables. Since the backbone supplies power and data to the entire network there is larger gauge wire than drop cables which also makes them more expensive to produce.
Since NMEA 2000 is the central nervous system of critical data onboard we recommend following the color code so there is no risk of voltage drop.
