The Waterproof Case for the Zooz XS Sensor is designed specifically to protect Zooz 700 and 800 Series XS sensors (models ZSE41 and ZSE43) for outdoor installations. It  provides necessary weather protection for hatches and exterior doors.

Specifications

Dimensions: It is molded precisely to accommodate the main sensor body, which measures 1.9” x 1” x 0.3”.Weatherproof Rating: Designed explicitly for open-air installations protecting internal hardware against direct exposure to heavy rain and dust.Material Composition: Non-shielding, Z-Wave-optimized high-density plastic that safeguards the device without degrading wireless transmission range.

Operational Hardware SpecificationsSensor Compatibility: Form-fitted exclusively for the Zooz ZSE41 (Open/Close) and Zooz ZSE43 (Tilt/Shock) series (both 700 and 800 series variants). It is not compatible with standard-sized Zooz sensors or alternative models.Enclosure Entry: Utilizes a snap-fit rear panel opening mechanism. This keeps the front and sides seamlessly sealed against moisture intrusion while allowing you to pop open the back for battery changes

Installation Details

Open the Housing: Locate the seam on the back panel of the waterproof case and pop it open.Insert the Hardware: Drop the assembled, paired sensor body cleanly into the front chamber of the case.Reseal: Press the back panel firmly into place until it clicks closed, forming a moisture-tight barrier around the back and sides.Step 3:

Outdoor Mounting and AlignmentHardware Setup: If tracking a moving barrier like a gate, use the mounting screws included with the case to attach the waterproof housing to the moving portion of the gate. Use outdoor-rated adhesive tape or screws to attach the slim magnet directly to the fixed frame.Orientation Check: Align the sensor housing and the magnet using the etched orientation marks on the side profiles of the devices.Enforce the Maximum Gap: The strict separation distance between the waterproof case housing and the companion magnet must not exceed 0.25 inches when closed. Exceeding this distance will prevent the hub from registering a "closed" status.

Important Structural Warnings Avoid Metal Backings: Do not mount the waterproof case directly to uninsulated sheet metal or iron gates if possible. Standard metal frames severely degrade wireless Z-Wave signal ranges. If a metal gate is unavoidable, insert a thin wood or plastic spacer block between the gate and the waterproof case.Avoid Duracell Batteries: When performing future battery swaps via the case's rear panel, do not use Duracell CR2032 replacements. The bitter coating on Duracell cells interferes with the shallow battery contacts inside the Zooz XS sensor series. Opt instead for standard Energizer or Panasonic cells

Pelagic Power Tip

When installing a Zooz XS sensor outdoors in its waterproof case, extreme winter cold can cause your smart home hub to falsely report a dead battery. Lithium CR2032 coin cells experience a temporary voltage drop when temperatures fall below 32°F (0°C), triggering premature "Low Battery" alerts even if the battery is brand new.
