Mastervolt 81203205 Mac Plus DC-DC Converter 12/48V or 12/36V 15A Bi-Directional
Mastervolt 81203205 Mac Plus DC-DC Converter 12/48V or 12/36V 15A Bi-Directional
SKU:MVT81203205
A DC to DC Converter allows you charge a battery bank using another battery bank as the power source. Originally designed to convert voltages (ex 12V to 48V). The Mac Plus 12/48-15A is programable to also operate with 36V systems. This amazing unit is also bi-directional so it's actually 4 products in 1.
Programable Configurations:
- 12/48 - 15A
- 12/36 - 15A
- 48/12 - 50A
- 36/12 - 50A
Check out our example systems that incorporate DC to DC chargers.
12/48V 15A or 12/36V 15A Bi-Directional DC to DC Converter
- Configurable for 48V or 36V systems
- Bi-directional technology allow for 4 different configurations (above)
- Charge 2 battery banks from 1 charging source (ex. alternator, solar, AC charger)
- Compatible battery types: Flooded, Gel, AGM, Lithium, and Custom
- Configurable voltage "On" set points
- Optional analog signal triggers unit "On" or "Off"
- Can act as a power supply without second battery in place
- Can be paralleled with up to 4 units for maximum power transfer
- Temperature compensation to prolong the life of the battery being charged
- Silent, fan-less operation
- Masterbus or CZone and NMEA 2000 configuration, monitoring, & control
- Optional programming via dip switches for simplified installation
-
3-step+ charging
- Bulk - Provides constant current to charge the batteries to approximately 80%
- Absorption - Provides constant voltage to top off the batteries to 100%
- Pre-Float - Lowers voltage on each output as the individual output finishes absorption even if remaining batteries have not completed absorption
-
Float - After all batteries are full the charger moves to float which provides reduced constant voltage to maintain full batteries and provide power to loads
- Plus - 1 hour every 14 days the battery charger automatically transitions from Float to Absorption to keep the batteries fresh and prolong their life

The Mac Plus 36V/48V DC to DC converters is one of the most versatile power system products on the market. With it's bi-directional technology it can be configured to operate as 4 different products (see description).
This 12/48V version will come default assuming the 12V is the input and the 48V is the output. You can configure the 48V to be 36V via dip switches. However, if you want to flip the charge direction and have the 36/48V be the input and the 12V be the output you must program the unit via Masterbus or CZone.
When you program the unit you don't have to leave it as one direction forever. You can program the unit to flip direction based on a switch input. This switch can either be analog through the signal wires, or be a digital switch in the an Easy View 5 or CZone display.
A great application for toggling the direction on demand would be if you have a 48V house bank and 12V start battery. If you had a 12V alternator connected to the start battery you could use the Mac Plus to charge the 48V house bank while the 12V alternator is running. Then when the alternator is off if you wanted to charge your 12V start battery off your 48V house bank you could use the bi-directional feature to toggle the charge direction.
Another common application for this product is on a boat with a 12V start battery and a 36V trolling motor bank. The Mac Plus can be configured with dip switches to act as a "charge on the run" charger and keep the trolling motor battery charged. This ultimately means more trolling motor time and therefore more fishing time.
These are just 2 examples of the versatility of this product. There are countless more.
